Week in Le Marche, Italy
With the kids now on a 3 month school holiday break, we decided to hire a car, get out of Lucca for a week and head across the country to the region known as "Le Marche" to catch up with a friend. We stayed on a farm house outside of a hilltop town called Offida. The area makes some great DOC wine and they are famous for lace work.
From the week, I would have to say that the landscape is extremely pretty and rivals anything in Tuscany. It reminds me greatly of South Gippsland, and I do have to say it made me a touch homesick. In regards to food, I cannot really comment as most days we spent around the pool and ate in most nights. However, I will say that there was an abundance of fresh seasonal produce to be had from many of the roadside stalls. You are also very close to the Adriatic sea, just a 15min drive, therefore plenty of fresh seafood to be had as well. Overall it was a great place to unwind, and would recommend to anyone wanting relax and spend time with the family.
